HABC Level 2 Award in HACCP for Catering

Who is the qualification for?

The Level 2 Award in HACCP for Catering course is aimed at caterers and other food handlers. The course is intended for candidates already working in catering and those who are preparing to work in the industry. The course will be especially useful for those involved in maintaining HACCP in a catering environment, and for those who are or will be part of a HACCP team.

Persons completing this course will have knowledge and understanding of the concept and benefits of HACCP and will be able to contribute to the development of HACCP and apply the principles of HACCP within catering businesses.

Pre-requisites

There are no pre-requisites for this qualification although it is strongly recommended that candidates hold a Level 2 food hygiene qualification or equivalent prior to attending. It is advised that candidates have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent.

Guided learning hours for this qualification are 6-9 hours depending upon the mode of study and training needs of candidates.

Key Skills

This course provides the opportunity for candidates to develop competence in key skills and produce evidence towards attaining key skills. The course does not ensure key skills are met as this would depend upon candidates producing a portfolio of evidence and the mode of study adopted.

What does the assessment involve?

This course is assessed by a 30 question multiple-choice examination. Successful candidates must achieve a score of at least 20/30.

The examination paper is set and marked by HABC. The duration of the examination is 1 hour.

Restrictions on Candidate Entry

Candidates must have undertaken a course of instruction approved by HABC and covering the syllabus prior to taking the examination

Examination Results and Certificates

Following the examination a list of results will be provided stating whether candidates have passed or failed. Certificates for successful candidates will be dispatched shortly afterwards.
